Last Sunday I was invited to the premiere of Disney’s “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” in Berlin. I love premieres and my first thought instantly after I received the invitation was: What should I wear!
I am one of those people who googles everything first. Unfortunately I couldn’t find helpful results for “Musical Premiere outfits.” The range was wide, anything from fur boots with jeans to ball gown with glittery high heels. Spontaneously I chose a white cutout blouse, skin-tight black pants and black pumps. For me I felt it was totally the right choice for a night like this.
It was a thrill to walk over the red carpet while many photographers where taking pictures. I’m glad we made it without any of us tripping or worse! Most of you surely know the premise of the story but I don’t want to give away too much. The principle performer is David Jakobs, who plays Quasimodo. Crooked and cast out he spends his time in the bell tower looking over 15th century Paris. Beautiful Esmeralda is played by Sarah Bowden. It was an unprecedented production and gave me so many fond memories. It was emotionally enthralling and touching.
I was lucky enough to meet both principle performers at the afterparty and not only did they convince me artistically, they were also incredibly charming. It was my first visit of the theater of the West at Kantstraße and I was very impressed. The giant chandeliers in the front foyer invite you to have a drink and hang out for as long as you like. There were some prominent guests in attendance and I’m happy I made really nice acquaintances. I had breakfast the next morning with Vanessa (Cityhopperlook) and Elena (Elfashion) and it was a perfect ending to my Berlin trip.
If this makes you want to see the brilliant Hunchback of Notre Dame you can find more information here.
